In this work the camera remains static as life happens in front of it. We see two train journeys, one in New York and one in London translated using software and put through a third journey that remains unnamed. The resulting images overlap the two cities, their architecture and inhabitants extended and shifting over each other. Twined seats of power on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean referencing the mythical — though false, naming of ‘Nylon’ as the conflation of New York and London.
Shown at John Hansard Gallery as part of ‘Work Score/Studio Host’, an event organised with Aaron Tan in response to Anne Tallentire’s exhibition ‘Material Distance’.
