Laser-etched plywood, laser-etched gummy bears in six flavours (apple, strawberry, raspberry, orange, lemon, pineapple), LED lights.
30 x 30 x 15cm
30 x 30 x 15cm
The box has a series of interchangeable modular plywood faces featuring various laser-etched, computer-generated 3D moire drawings.
Each carries inserted gummy bears with words laser-etched onto them that form sentences with varying meanings depending on the orientation of reading, left-right, up-down.
Through the making process the idea of the 'stage' be- came relevat to the work. The lightbox could be open, resembling a theatre stage, allowing light to interact with the bears in multiple ways. The plywood cutout bears be- come something like teeth or spectators in a diorama-like setting. The character of the piece changing depending on the lighting conditions.
