[tr. Mother’s hand, spanish dust]

Duotone Risograph print.

Edition of 119.

42 x 29.7cm
This work is a collaboration between me and my mum, who works as a domestic cleaner in Spain. The print displays a cloth she brought back from work where — as it happens, her hand has been imprinted in dust. This drawing is ephemeral, however. The cloths get washed and go back into circulation, repeating the cycle.

An open palm is a familiar symbol both an invitation and an order. I hope this one drawn in grime hints at the invisible labour around us which sustains the fantasy we inhabit.
